Hello. I honestly have no idea what to say here. I guess I'll tell you a little about myself. I'm 30, never married and no kids. One day I was sitting at work in NJ just outside NYC with a few friends/coworkers. We were all from Texas and had worked together at a previous job there. One friend said NJ/NYC sucks and he is about ready to bail. The rest of us agreed that NJ sucks. Just think, if we lived in TX we could even have CARS, and traffic on the freeway would move faster than you can walk!

We talked to our boss. "NJ sucks and TX rocks!" we said. He flew out to Austin and looked at some office space. He signed a lease and flew back. "Work from TX if you want!" And so we did. And it was glorious. The company doesn't even do anything in TX. There is just a token small office space so that those of us that want to can live out here.

So here I am in Austin. I even brought my friends/coworkers with me. I worked with them in Houston, then in NJ, then in Austin. Now I just need more of a social life. Can I be a balanced moderate geek with a life please?

Random facts about me:

My high school life was unusual. I was home schooled and lived in the middle of nowhere at a missile test range on the beach in Hawaii. I didn't know any other teenagers the entire time I lived there.

My siblings and parents bought 3 houses on the same street just north of Houston, then there's another sister living 10 minutes away. I'm the only one who moved away (first to the NYC area, then to Austin).

I was born Jan 1st, 1980 in CA. As a child, my grandfather who was part native American was my best friend. We did many fun things together, like gardening, walks in the neighborhood, and catching toads in the backyard.

I moved to the Seattle, WA area when I was 5, and lived there till I was 15, then moved to Wake Forest, NC. I went to college at Moody Bible Institute for 4 years in Chicago, and then soon afterward moved to Seoul, Korea where I've lived for the last 5.5 years. Here, I've made many great friends and learned a lot, while teaching, pursuing an online MA through Birmingham University (UK), and teaching English to NK refugees through my church. I am a Christian (Reformed Baptist) and interested in serving God by showing His love to other people.

God willing, I hope to move back to Austin, TX (where my family now lives) in the near future to continue graduate school.

I have not had any previous relationships. Mainly do to a lack of time. You may not know what Cystic Fibrosis is, but i have it. I try to live my life without letting it run it for me. Before I start, I'd like to note that I highly doubt you're reading this, maybe stopping on the picture because I'm kinda cute. All it feels like is a sales pitch. This is just a bunch of surface crap that I notice about myself. You don't know if I'm lying, and there is no way to prove otherwise! Gotta love the credibility of the internet, right?

Well, I'm the nice guy type. I've got longer hair than pictured (down to my chin; it's curly too) but I'm not very proactive about taking pictures. I'm generally quiet, but I love philosophical conversations. Well, most conversation really. And debating, just to match wits. I'm very sensitive, but I've gotten enough experience to not let my feelings get bruised too easily. I try to be the peacemaker of any group I'm in. I daydream all the time. I love being creative, and express this mostly through writing and drawing. Don't care if it gets me anywhere, because my motivation lies elsewhere. I can be funny when the moment hits me, though I'm no comedian. Doesn't stop me from trying, however. Manners are important to me, though I tend to swear frequently. Most people seem to forget what "Please" and "Thank You" can do. Then again, forced manners don't work... That guy at the fast food place may have said "Thank You" but it sure did sound suspiciously like "fuck you."

I'm not much into concerts or bars/clubs. I prefer more intimate settings. I'm also not much of a drinker these days, I've done all social drinking that I can handle already. However I do have a bit now and then, whiskey being my favorite. The only parties I've ever been to are either the family friends type, or the frat-boy type.

I moved to the Austin area May of this year after I left the Navy, and I still don't know anyone, and I don't get out much (thank you economy and random bitch who ran me off the road, making me break my ankle). Though getting out isn't much of a priority since I've only just been able to start walking again. Yeah, I don't ever want to break my ankle again. Not gonna stop me from getting back on my motorcycle, however.

I enjoy reading, camping, hiking, swimming, running, cycling, tinkering, and whatever else strikes my fancy! I like gadgets and will probably be all over whatever new comes across my path (ooo, shiny)! I love humor and like to pun (not the best, but I'll have you groaning)!

My latest hobby has been photography and I'm still learning about it. Sometimes I'll take it with me when I go hiking around Austin...I've taken some pretty decent shots around (if I may say so). I'm 51 years old, and I still love playing in the mud (pottery). I'm actually pretty much a big kid at heart. Nothing is out of reach if youâ??re willing to do what it takes. Your life is a reflection of your mind set, so get up and do something. And following that, if you always know what youâ??re doing, youâ??re not challenging yourself so reach farther. Some know, some donâ??t; I have served my country proudly and honorably in the United States Marine Corps. Some frown, some talk crap, and some are proud of that fact. To those who frown and talk crap, all I can say is I pity you. Its because of men and women that believe in this country and are willing to fight and give their lives for of it that you have the right to be a self indulging wienier and not be shot, hung, or tortured simply because you have an opinion. I am the Vocals for a metal band here in Texas. I enjoy learning about religions other ways of life and discovering new things about the world that makes it that much more fun to be in. I recently started doing firespinning and had my first public spin in December. No telling where I'm going but I'll have fun getting there that's for sure.

I am a father of 2 great kids that take a great deal of my time. They are old enough to stay home alone, so I still have time for myself when I need it as well.

I love to play sports, and play soccer, raquetball, and bike on a regular basis. Soccer is one of my first loves in sports, and I play as much as I can. At this point, this means about 3 times per week. I also spend 3-4 days a week at the gym working on getting in the best shape of my life.

I'm a simple guy that likes the outdoors and simple things. I like technology, and have no problem buying the newest stuff if it is something that I like. But you won't find me buying something just to say that I have it.

I am laid back, relaxed, and always optimistic. A sense of humor about life is the most important piece to happiness, especially when times get rough. I grew up on a farm in a small town outside of Cincinnati, Ohio, and moved to Austin eight years ago. Hey y'all! I'm a true blue dyed-in-the-wool Austinite (well, this is Texas, it's not REALLY wool... something much lighter!). I've been in Austin for about a decade, actually, and after having managed to live in 9 states by the time I was 16, I truly consider this my hometown. I'm a weird kinda dork... I can go down to 6th street for music, or to dance, and not make a total fool out of myself, but I'm just as at home sitting at a table with other guys making Monty Python references (This parrot has shuffled off it's mortal coil and joined the bleedin' choir invisible!) and playing the game-of-the-moment. I could easily be called a geek, poet, writer, gamer, voracious reader, good friend, and a big-hearted sucker. *laugh* I'm stopping the writing now, I promise!

Where do you start with these things? Alright.. I'm a 41 yr old woman with an interest in art, the metaphysical/paranormal, spiritual matters. I love to read (sci-fi, fantasy though will read many other books depending on author and style) when I have time, am an utter geek ( yes, I play online rpg's), tend to be quiet though warm up fairly quickly, and love being out in nature.

I've been an artist, radio talk show guest host, antiques dealer (small time) and a massage therapist among other things. I'm working now to regain my massage license which I let lapse due to a few life changes. Equal parts geek, nerd, fanboy, and dork. To be honest, I rarely message anyone on this site, mostly because I'm horrible -- absolutely horrible -- at starting conversations with total strangers. Just ask the half-dozen people I've actually messaged here. I love looking at profiles, especially snarky ones.

Politically liberal, but personally conservative. I don't have, or particularly like, piercings or tattoos, I eat meat regularly, and I am not even remotely 420 friendly. While I love college football, I'm not a Longhorn fan, in fact, I'm quite the opposite. I've been told I live in the wrong city.

I'm an agnostic. I believe in Christ as a philosopher and moralist, but not as a Messiah. I believe faith is a beautiful thing, but religion is too easily corrupted to be the basis for any social system. I've also been told I live in the wrong state.

I don't watch much television. That's changing, partly because we've finally started drifting away from Reality Hell. I was infatuated with Grey's Anatomy (mostly because of Katherine Heigl, but George O'Malley was my hero before he became a flaky adulterous jerk), but now it's Pushing Daisies.

This has been a challenging year. I was laid off in March and moved to Reno, NV by the end of May to take a position with a SMALL travel agency with promises of grandiose trappings and compensation. In short, I was screwed royally and it put my family in a precarious position and I was let go by the middle of October. Thankfully I have enough experience in my field that two larger agencies made offers to me by the end of November and I chose Austin over Phoenix as a location due in no small measure to the live music scene here. I learned two valuable lessons. First; Never trust a Redumblican as they are all liers and cheats. The Second; never accept a position in the travel industry offered by a mom and pop (no support system or incentive to provide benefits)

So now I am in Austin seeking new friends and "Sugar Magnolias" to show me the sights and sounds in and around town. Dancing 'til daylight apparently is a seven day a week possibility around here!

I've left the original below because it does represent where I've been. Since I joined this site I had moved from MD to WV and watched my two daughters grow into young adults. I now have a position with another travel agency, that is based in OH so I "tele-commute" and have been doing so for the last two years. I enjoy it, however the lack of contact with my colleagues on a daily basis is a challenge. I found that I like to be around people more than I thought, and miss the interactions being in an office provides. I enjoy small town life, though I was raised in Brooklyn, NY so I also know what it is like to blend into the backround. I've met some wonderful people via OK Cupid and as always have a blast.

Talk about myself. Thats a good one. I tend to be a little closed about that subject until I let someone into my life. I'm a deadhead. Pure and simple (didn't PT say "pure and easy") I live for live music and spend most of my time pursuing live music, for all sorts of reasons. I would rather be listening to some music now and dancing with some girl. Want to dance? Prank-em-all!!

I love cooking and baking. I enjoy all kinda of music, but I'd rather listen to a well produced album at home, than go out live. At least for most artists, there are rare exceptions. My favorite thing to do is to play with my son. He is the most important thing to me in the world. I'm not a big drinker, but I will go out and have a drink or two with friends. I've recently quit smoking, currently working on my third week. I have reached a point in my life where I need to find new things to do, and new experiences to have. It's an interesting story, ask me about it.

I am an RN in the PACU at a local hospital, I have trauma, neuro, surgical experience as well as critical care experience. I really enjoy my career and the people I am able to serve. There is nothing like going through a difficult experience with someone and being able to comfort, educate, and even bring a smile to their face.
I am still relatively new to Austin and am learning to love it! I have always loved music and there are so many cultures represented here. I am a free spirited, fun loving, caring individual. Usually the clown at the party, I will do silly/crazy things subconsciously to entertain. I enjoy a good conversation and can hold my own pretty well with most topics. I like to make people laugh. I'm a riot. There is not a pun I would not make. I made up a nickname for myself it is "the Pun-issuer". Which is a pun on The Punisher. Ok, so sometimes my puns make people cringe but 75% of the time I get a laugh. Anyway I also love watching movies, watching TV, anything Superman related, Singing karaoke,and filling out self-summaries on random websites. I find it humorous that I am a 97% match for myself. Shouldn't I be 100%? All kidding aside I consider myself to be a pretty easy to get along with kind of guy. I'm also a nice guy so don't hold it against me. I'm a lover not a fighter. I don't follow dating 'rules'. I don't like the dating 'games' people play. If you give me your number expect me to call. If I call you it means I care. It doesn't mean I'm desperate.

I am a contemplative, honest, centered and fairly evolved person. I believe in taking life by the horns, facing my fears, realizing my potential, and generally living life to the fullest every day. I am very driven and thus don't get out much, but am finding I need some companionship. I am intensely creative, an artist, drummer, and dancer. I like to explore unusual states of being and experiences, to bring myself to a higher plane, but also to have fun. My spiritual beliefs are a big part of my life and are eastern in nature, tantra specifically if you know what that means, if not just consider it pagan.

I am a geek, though my conversation skills extend beyond anime and scifi. Most find me to be quite an excellent conversationalist in fact. I am a lot of fun to be around once I get comfortable with someone. I am not pushy, manipulative, needy, or controlling. I just want to have someone to share a portion of my life with and let them be themselves. I don't tolerate head games, control freaks, emotional manipulation or BS in general. I love Austin's quirky atmosphere and am part of the local Burning Man scene. I am very into nature and love long hikes. I am also part of the S&M scene and play as both top and bottom.

I work, I play, sleep, rinse and repeat. Ideally I would like to venture out and explore the world. For now I blend in with the system.

I have moved around a lot in my life. Now I've found a place I love and belong. I don't plan on moving unless I am offered a scholarship to Oxford university or a position in England. Maybe if I got a really good paying job at the Harry Potter Theme park, but right now I'm good.

I am working towards going back to school currently, while moving forward with some long standing dreams. I love to draw and am in the process of designing my own web comic. I know it doesn't sound like much, but I'm only doing it as a hobby, since I'd like to put my work out there to be viewed.

I am Bi, but I'm also fairly monogamous. I really have nothing against polyamorous relationships, but find they would be harder to maintain(willing to try, if a little hesitant). Anyway, I am only trying to date now. I'm not the kind to rush.

I'm a very open person, and often run into problems with questions in the site simply because some things shouldn't be a definitive yes or no, and I believe that most things shouldn't. My biggest turn off is closed minds, I like people who are open to at least try, and if you're not, I like knowing there is justification.

I'm fairly spiritual, but I don't have a religion. I do believe that this isn't it, but I don't believe in the cloud god that gives people wings when they die. I know some christians who don't really believe in that guy either, so I'm perfectly okay with someone who believes in god, but I don't like people who follow their church line. To me, I'm okay with anyone's spiritual belief as long as they've thought it out, and come to it on their own terms. Such things should be very personal.

I have a friend who describes me as "the ultimate hippy if hippies were actually cool". I countered with the thought that hippies were pretty cool, but he said a lot of them were just posers. I doubt that to some extent, but I'm not offended by the idea of it. I can accept a compliment even when it seems a little odd.

So, although the pictures in my profile may show to the contrary I am NOT gay. I am just a straight guy, that happened to get fished out from behind a couch by two men, that shops at Bath and Bodyworks.

Just starting this internet dating thing. I'm more of a hands on guy then a sit down at the computer and type things about my self.
